Fort Clinch State Park

In our travels, full timing RV campers would claim this park as one of the best. I now understand why this park is so hard to get a spot! What I didn’t know was that this is a park that has lots of opportunity for good hiking, all kinds of biking, paddling and fishing for sports enthusiasts and while still giving offering great cuisine and amenities outside the park with Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island.

Lake Louisa State Park

Loved it! Lake Louisa State Park was a complete surprise to us. Here is a link to their park brochure. We have enjoyed this area a lot and found this park to be a great experience with the over 6 miles of rolling hill park roads, 3 larger lakes for fishing and paddling and some smaller ones too, miles of trails and double track/equestrian trails. There are rv sites, tent sites, cabins and even an equestrian area. The roads outside the park were very bike friendly too.

Salt Spring Recreation Area

with 2 large camping areas with over 150 sites overall this is one of the better campgrounds we have ever visited. One campground  has complete hookups, meaning 50amp, water and sewer.  The cherry on top is that all the sites are paved!  Wifi is ok  with our booster and using our verizon jetpacks.

Suwannee River State Park

This is one of our all time favorite state parks for a variety of reasons.  In no particular order; the camping sites are all pretty decent especially those on the outside  loop having the desirable trait of privacy. This park hits all of our desirable activity areas: hiking, biking, and water sports.  Added bonus: you are able to reserve site specific sites.

New Routines and Expectations as Empty Nesters

It was really hard to break the mold of what we “should be doing” according to our family and peer group and what we wanted to do.  Recent research highlights that people are happiest doing the things they love to do and being near those activities.  We found that RV travel allows us to be near nature in a comfortable setting AND keep the routines that we like and work for us.

What research says …..

You already know that fruits and vegetables are good for you – but did you know they might also be good for avoiding extra weight as you age?

How we work….out

Our philosophy of life is succinctly summarized in a book called “Younger Next Year” by Crowley and Lodge. The authors say you should practice these 7 principles: exercise 6 days a week the rest of your life, do serious aerobic 4 days a week the rest of your life, do serious strength training 2 days a week the rest of your life, spend less than you make, quit eating crap, care, connect and commit.
